	The First Union Classic - Trenton race was shortened from a 147-km route to 89 km, due to an accident caused by a vehicle entering the course and crashing into a spectator, who died in the incident just after the race got underway. The organized had to stop the race and call for a new start, with fewer laps to be completed.
