Alexandre VINOKOUROV tested positive for the use of blood doping in the Tour de France 2007 on July 21 and July 23. He was suspended for 1 year by the Kazakh federation, until July 21, 2008.
The UCI wanted to appeal this decision, but accepted it after Vinokourov did not return in the peloton after one year. Still, 'Vino' made his comeback after 2 years of inactivity.
