Julian David MUNOZ was involved in the case Via Col Doping, and suspected of doping trafficking. In December 2009, he was suspended for 2 years by the Italian federation, until 13 December 2011, only for Italian races.
During the Italian suspension, Munoz tested positive for Sibutramine on 15 February 2010 after Stage 7a of the Vuelta a Cuba. He was suspended by the UCI for 8 years, until 8 June 2019. As he participated in races during his suspension, this date was extended by the UCI until 3 February 2021.
